Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 14, 2002 at Westside District Cemetery for long time Fellows resident Jerry Penney who went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 9th at Mercy Hospital in Bakersfield.
Jerry was born in Utah in 1922 to her parents Lawrence A. and Naomi Enockson. She moved to Fellows in 1937 where she rsided with her parents until 1940 when she married her husband of 61 years, Bob Penney.
Jerry worked at Kirkpatrick Brothers Stationary & ToyShop during the 1960's. She and her husband bought the Fellows Hotel and Bar in 1971 and made many lifelong friendships during their ownership. jerry enjoyed collecting coins, volunteered her time at the NEEDS Center and at the SHARE program in Taft. Her friendly smile and warm personality were perfect for her position as the "Shunshine Lady" at her church womann's group.
Jerry was a cherished and loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her survivors include her husband Bob Penney, her children Robbie Penney of Fellows, CA, Janie and Jim Olafson of San Angelo, TX, and Mike and Robbie Penney of Bakersfield, CA; Brother, Andy Enokson & sons of Bakersfield; Her grandchildren Tami and Gene Jones of Taft, CA, Vicki and Frank Buck of Lawrenceville, GA, Staff Sgt. Alan and Sylvia Olafson of Ft. Rucker, AL,Michael Penney of Olympia, WA, and Cindy and Louie Yrigollen of Arroyo Grande, CA; her great-grandchildren Tiffani, Matthew and Zachary Jones, Ryan, Stacey Jessica and Jonathan Buck, Kevin, Katie R.J., Jessica and Stephan Olafson, Christopher, Cody, Brandon, and Michael Penney, Jonatha and Allison Yrigollen. Many other loved family members and treasured friends.
