Gilbert Saylor, age 99, a retired shipping clerk at Bluegrass Army Depot-Avon Activity, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and widower of Mildred Catherine Ritchie Saylor, died Sunday, June 5, 2016, at Bourbon Heights Nursing Home, in Paris, Kentucky. He was born March 29, 1917, in Knox County, Kentucky, a son of the late Robert William and Nettie Hammock Saylor, and was a member of Paris First United Methodist Church.

Gilbert is survived by: a daughter, Brenda (William) Long, of Paris; two sons, Larry Joe (Jan) Saylor, of Colonial Beach, Virginia, and Ronnie Saylor, of Paris; two grandchildren, Tabitha Marie Long, of Cynthiana, and Brad (Deanna) Saylor, of Baltimore, Maryland; a brother, Jim (Margaret) Saylor, of Cincinnati, Ohio; and a great-granddaughter, Emma Lou Saylor. He was preceded in death by: a brother, Richard Saylor; and a sister, Mary Davis.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 8, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at Evergreen Memory Gardens. Casket bearers will be William Long, Larry Joe Saylor, Ronnie Saylor, Brad Saylor, Earl Clough and Leonard Wilson.
