Mildred Strickland Mahan went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 2, 1999, at 09:43 a.m. She was born on August 10, 1913, in Texas. She married Paul Loomis Strickland in 1931. She and Paul were married for 59 1/2 happy years before Paul deceased. They had five children. Her son, Charles Paul, at 19 months, and daughter, Peggy Joyce Smith, at 54 years, preceded her in death.
Mildred married Eugene Mahan in 1992. They were married for three happy years before Gene passed away. She is survived by her son and his wife, Edwin and Charlene Strickland of Oklahoma City; her daughter, Clara Tarbutton, of Edmond, Oklahoma; her daughter and her husband, Pauline and Bill Fowler of Shay, Oklahoma; her stepson and his wife, Donald and Sherry Mahan of Raleigh, North Carolina; her stepdaughter and husband, Candice and Joseph Pride of Edmond; her stepson and wife, Rodney and Cathy Mahan of Straffordville, New Jersey. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Britton Baptist Church. She had lived in Edmond, Oklahoma since 1953. Mildred was a precious lady who loved people. Her compassion for others was a great witness for the Lord. Viewing will be at Demuth Funeral Home from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be held at the Britton Baptist Church, at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 4, 1999, with interment to follow at Kolb Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the General Church Fund of Britton Baptist Church.
