Mankato resident, Granis Miller, 74, died Friday, February 9, 2007 at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 13 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mankato with Rev. Paul Meierding, officiating. Interment will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Monday at Woodland Hills Funeral Home and will continue at the church 1 hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to the Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospice program in Mankato.



Granis was born August 23, 1932 in Granite Falls, MN, the daughter of Virgil and Helen (Miller) Olson. She grew up and attended school in Granite Falls and then attended the St. Barnibus Hospital Nursing Program. She married Donald Miller on August 1, 1953 in Granite Falls. They lived in Hinckley and St. Peter before moving to Mankato in 1964. She was a registered nurse and worked at Sandstone, St. Peter State Hospital, and Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital until retiring in 1995. Being with her family was most important to Granis. She especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren's various activities. She always enjoyed 5 o'clock Sunday supper with her family, and also liked Wednesday night suppers with her girlfriends. She enjoyed playing cards, games, trips to Las Vegas, Barbershop Chorus activities with the Mankato Riverblenders including two trips to England, and occasionally playing golf where she even scored a hole in one on the #5 hole at Terrace View. She was a member of Faculty Wives, various social coffee clubs, St. Peter Couples Club, and Bethlehem Lutheran Church.



Granis is survived by her husband, Don; 6 children, Steve (Eileen) Miller of Mankato, MN, Douglas Miller of Minneapolis, MN, Sue (Jerry) Thul of Vernon Center, MN, Jo (Keith) Snow of St. Peter, MN, Dave (Ruth) Miller of Rosemount, MN, Amy (Mark) Wersal of North Mankato, MN; 18 grandchildren, Ginette Miller, Camille Janssen, Christina Miller, Jacqui Miller, Michael Miller, Abby Miller, Kate Thul, Nick Thul, Brad Snow, Brandi Snow, Heidi Snow, Jason Glaser, Jessi Glaser, Jake Glaser, Bryon Miller, Leah Miller, Brad Wersal, and Scott Wersal; 5 great grandchildren, Lilly, Ethan, Ava, Grace and Logan; 1 sister, Sharon (Gene) Buchholz of Granite Falls, MN; 4 sisters-in-law, Marion Erdman of Owatonna, MN, Lorraine Miller of Waseca, MN, Darlene Erickson of Minneapolis, MN, Phyllis Miller of Long Beach, CA; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister, Virginia Halvorson; 1 niece, Lisa Buchholz.
