Pierre Ducôté dit Coureur (Couvreur) was likely born c1690 in the ancient province of Flanders (France).

He married Anna Magdalena Gabel (aka: Marie Magdeleine Cable) on 23 January 1749 at Saint Charles Borromeo on the German Coast (now Destrehan). According to their marriage record, he was the son of Pierre Ducôté & Antoinette (the next word is unreadable in the marriage certificate).

It is believed that Pierre died in October or November 1775. This estimated date of death is based on entries in Winston DeVille's "Pointe Coupee Documents, 1762-1803: A Calendar of Civil Records for the Province of Louisiana". An inventory of his effects was taken 15 November 1775 likely indicating that he had a short time before that date.

A record of his burial has not been located but he was likely buried at St. François d’Assise. This grave was likely located in the cemetery of the 1760 church. The cemetery was blessed in 1764. Almost all of the graves from this church were lost to the Mississippi River. A few were moved to St. Mary's Church in New Roads but none of those were for individuals who died prior to 1818.
