Born in Wolverhampton, England.

Had been a resident of Fremantle for 45 years. He was for some years a member of the board of the Fremantle Hospital, of which he was for a time chairman. He took a keen interest in municipal affairs, and was a councillor of the Fremantle Council from 1898 to 1901. Was also a Justice of the Peace.
Was married to Evelyn Mary Instone (died 1927)

DEATH IN GARAGE.
Exhaust Fames Responsible.
An inquest on the death of Fred Instone (69), a well-known Fremantle business man, lately retired, and a justice of
the peace, who was found dead in his garage, on June 28, was conducted at the Fremantle Courthouse yesterday. The Acting
Coroner (Mr. J.H.Payne, J.P.) found that the deceased came by his death through the accidental inhalation of carbon-monoxide gas from the exhaust of his car, apparently, while attempting to repair a mechanical defects Sergeant Nisbet examined the witnesses.
