ADAMS, MARK L.Of Dallas passed into the hands of God on November 17, 2007. He was born on December 29, 1918, in Honeygrove, Texas. He was raised on a farm just outside Durant, Oklahoma, during the Depression and later joined the Civilian Conservation Corps established under President Roosevelt. He went on to serve his country honorably during World War II as a Staff Sargent in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the 45th Infantry and participated in three beach landings in Sicily and Italy where he received the Silver Star for gallantry in action and the Purple Heart. After the war, he came to Dallas where most of his family had moved while he was overseas. He spent the majority of his career with Vought Aircraft Industries in Grand Prairie (formerly Ling Tempco Vought) where he worked for 31 years. Mark was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice Prater, who died in January 1967; their son, Mark Jr.; his wife, Lyrleen Gaudet, who died in June 2000; his parents, John and Clementine Adams; and his brothers and sisters Rex, Isabelle, John, Bill, Paul and Agnes. He is survived by his children Ron Adams, Louis Adams and wife, Alicia, and Jennifer Vavrik-Bilbo and husband Brian Bilbo; his grandchildren, Veronica Adams and Colin Vavrik; his sister, Mary Dennehy; and several nieces and nephews. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. His smile, sense of humor and hugs will be deeply missed. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 20 at Sparkman Crane Funeral Home, 10501 Garland Road in Dallas, followed by the Rosary at 7:30 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 21 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 8131 Military Parkway in Dallas.
