He was born September 19, 1934, in Minford, a son of the late Hobert and Didema Wheeler Lyon.
Carl was the former owner and operator of the Briar Patch Convenient Mart, and a former computer programmer, having taught at the Ohio University Branch in Portsmouth. He was a US Army veteran, member of the Lucasville Masonic Lodge, and the Valley of Cincinnati Scottish Rite. Carl was a 1952 Minford High School graduate, obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Ohio University, and his MBA from Xavier University.
He is survived by his wife, Kiyoko "Kay" Mori Lyon, whom he married May 14, 1963, in Tokyo, Japan; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his Aunt, Jessie Leigh Perry who raised him; one brother, Dr. Walter Lyon; and two sisters, Ruth Bennett and Lucille Casteel.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:15 Thursday, January 5, 2017, at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville with his nephew, Dwight Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Scioto Burial Park where Military graveside rites will be performed by the William A. Baker and James F. Irwin Posts of the American Legion. Friends may call 11:30 to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
