Actress. She was best known for playing the former showgirl turned baseball team owner Rachel Phelps in both the 1989 hit comedy movie "Major League" and its sequel "Major League II." She started on the New York stage, where she worked as a dog walker between parts. She made her first appearance in the 1972 film "Parades." She started out being billed as Peggy Whitton, but later used her birth name. She would continue in film throughout her career with such credits, besides "Major League" and "Major League II," including "The Secret of My Succe$s" (1987), "9 1/2 Weeks" (1986), "The Best of Times" (1986), "Ironweed" (1987), and "The Man Without a Face" (1993). She also made numerous appearances in television through the years with credits including "The Doctors," "One Life to Live," "Miami Vice," "Hometown," "Spenser: For Hire," "Good & Evil," and "Cutters." She made her Broadway debut in the 1982 play "Steaming" and after years of acting on both "the big and small screen," went back to the stage in 1995. She later became president of an independent film production company. She passed away after a brief battle with cancer.
