Mrs. Linda D. Hiers, 78, of Varnville, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at her residence.

The funeral service will be held 4 pm, Thursday, September 8, 2016 at West End Baptist Church, 1049 Elm Street West, Hampton. Burial will follow in Smith Cemetery.

Mrs. Hiers was born November 7, 1937 in Estill and was a daughter of the late James Clifford DeLoach and Nollie Alene Smith DeLoach. She was a member of West End Baptist Church, where she loved to sing in the church choir. She was a retired bookkeeper, having worked for Nix Florist and Tuten’s IGA. She was also a member of The order of the Eastern Star, Crocketville Chapter No. 240. Most of all, she loved her family and dearly loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving are: her husband, Paul Leighton Hiers, Sr. of Varnville; children, Paul Leighton Hiers, Jr. and his wife Tammy, James Hansford Hiers and his wife Donna, and Mark Anthony Hiers; grandchildren, Heather Lynn Hiers (Tammy Kiger), Paul Leighton Hiers, III (Patricia), Brandy Nicole Hiers (Antwaun Manigo), William Clifford Hiers, Jessica Hiers Carson (John), Michelle Hiers Aiken (Joey), Miranda Hiers Cook (Shane Carroll), Tiffany Rodriguez (Japhet), Crystal Hiers Treadway (Josh), Roy Keil (Suzy), John Walling, Jr., Blease Walling, Sarah Thomas (Dean), Joey Weems, and Mark Anthony Hiers, Jr.; 34 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Cyndie Hiers; brother, Ben Griner; and sisters, Ruby Griner DeLoach, Nollie Griner Dukes, Mary Alice DeLoach Nordeen, and Lawrence DeLoach.
