William, (born Vasil) Sentelik Sr., was born in Ostraznica, Austria-Hungary on February 25, 1886. He immigrated to America at the age of 18. He had a 3rd grade education, and spoke no English. He settled in Binghamton, NY, where he eventually met and married Anna Mino. Anna, born October 12, 1896 had also immigrated to America at the age of 18, from the city of Velka Polana, Austria-Hungary. They later moved to Akron, Ohio to be closer to Anna's brother. William went to work for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company at the Rim Plant. Together they parented 10 children, 8 living to adulthood.
