The remains of Dolf Smoot, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Smoot, shipped from New York, arrived in the city Wednesday and were interred in the Union City cemetery yesterday. Dolf was a soldier in the U. S. Army and died in the Philippines Islands, August 23, 1902. He first enlisted in 3d Reg., Mississippi Vols., for Spanish - American war, was honorably discharged, then enlisted in regular U. S. Army for three years, served out time and was honorably discharged, re-enlisted and served about four months and died. He was the second son of Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Smoot and was well known in Union City.
