He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and a member of the Moose Lodge as well as the Elks Lodge. He was a past commander of the American Legion Dewey Guy Post 14, and was a member or the United Auto Workers.
He is survived by the following members of his family:
Two sons: Lt. Col. Danny E. Ervin and Richard W. Ervin.
One daughter: Yvonne L. Bunton
Brothers: Delano Ervin, Raymond Ervin, George Ervin, John Ervin, and Larkin Ervin.
Sister: Opie Lee.
5 grandchildren: Arianna Ervin, Alex Ervin, Derek Bunton, Sam Ervin, and Alyssa Bunton.
