In "The African-American Embry-Woods Family from Talladega County, Alabama (1790-2007)", c. 2007 by Dorothy A. Tuck & Oliver W. Turner, Jr., it is related Gabe Embry was buried in Blue Eye Baptist Church Cemetery. However, the congregation was said to have moved approximately a mile and then established a new cemetery, allowing their old one to deteriorate and be lost to development. His headstone was reported to have been found in a trailer park located on the old cemetery ground. The headstone was subsequently moved to the Embry family plot in September of 2006, as reported in "The Daily Home" newspaper.

His sons, Wyatt Embry (1861-1925), Garnett Embry (1865-1925), and Will Embry (1872-1925), are buried less than a quarter-mile east of this family plot at Rushing Springs Cemetery.
