Statesman, 4th Prime Minister of Luxembourg. He served from 26 September 1860 to 3 December 1867. Prior to becoming prime minister he attended the Ecole Polytechnique in Paris. He was a member of the legislature from 1841 to 1848. From 1848 to 1856 he was a member of the Chamber of Deputies and from 1857 to 1860 in the legislature once again. He was then made prime minister and also served as minister of foreign affairs. He is best remembered for his role in the the Second Treaty of London, which had profound outcomes for Luxembourg. After leaving office he was appointed as a member of the Council of State advising the the national legislature and the chamber of deputies to 1872.
