Howard Evans, Five Years Old, Fatally Injured This Afternoon
Howard George Evans, five years old, son of Mrs. Robert Evans, Bradford, Pa., was fatally injured when struck by an automobile at West State and Tenth Streets about one o'clock this afternoon. The child died while being taken to the Mountain Clinic. Injuries resulting in his death consisted mainly of a fractured skull.
Reports indicate that the Evans boy was playing on the sidewalk in the vicinity of the Anderson Grocery Store when he suddenly ran into State Street directly into the path of the car which was being operated west in State Street by A. Miles.
Robert Evans, father of the child was killed last May in an automobile accident on the state road west of Allegany. The boy had been residing with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E.E. Evans of South Tenth Street and was a pupil at School No. 2. He was on his way to school when the accident occurred.
Dr. William M. Smith, coroner, stated this afternoon that he had not yet conducted an investigation into the accident.
Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
