Loretta Riggi, of Edison, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 3, 2015. She was 71.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, she was raised in the Ridgewood section of Queens before moving first to Linden, NJ then to Edison in 1977.
Loretta worked as an Assembler for General Motors in Linden for over 25 years before retiring in 1996.
She was a parishioner of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus RC Church in Linden.
Her biggest passion was spending quality time with her 6 grandchildren and taking family vacations to Florida to Delray Beach and Disney World.
Her husband, Anthony Riggi died in 2013. She was also predeceased by her brother, Fredy E. Herr; and her parents, Erwin & Eva (née Nicolaus) Herr.
She was survived by her son Dr. Joseph Riggi (and his wife Shannon) of Farmingdale, NY; daughter Maria Harkins (and her husband Joseph) of Iselin, NJ; and 6 grandchildren Michelle Harkins, Isabella, Molly, Lilly, Nicolas and Tessa Riggi.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at the GOSSELIN FUNERAL HOME, 660 New Dover Road, Edison, NJ followed by a Mass at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus RC Church in Linden, NJ, and burial in St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Colonia, NJ.
