Reported age at time of death is 55 years, which would make her birth date about 1875 - however, the 1900 census reports JUN 1865. Daughter of David & James ? (UNKNOWN) BILLINGER - both born in Georgia. Married Pope William GRAYSON. Informant for her death certificate was James BILLINGER of 536 Rhodes Street, N.W., in Atlanta, the same address where Carrie resided at the time of her death. Died of nephritis; interment handled by undertaker Murdough Brothers.

She is almost certainly the same as Carrie GRAYSON (Colored) who resided at 132 Maple Street in the Atlanta city directories for 1920, 1921 (laundress) & 1922 (domestic). She heads a household as a widow, aged 53 years, at this address on the 1920 census of City Ward 1 in Atlanta, employed as a laundress; with her are granddaughters Johnnie Mae JOHNSON (11) & Ellency JOHNSON (9).

Caroline (born June 1865 in Georgia) heads a household on the 1900 census of West Point in Militia District #701, Troup County, Georgia. She is a widow, employed as a cook, and had borne 2 children, both still living in the household: Maud (Feby 1888) and John (Jan 1892).

Carrie may have married in Harris County, Georgia; her daughter married there and her son's World War I draft registration card reports he was born at Hamilton, Georgia.
