Real Daughter (DAR) Marker at gravesite; daughter of Col. John Armstrong of Lincoln County, North Carolina.

In 1824, Mary "Polly" Armstrong was married to farmer Pleasant M. Fite in Lincoln County, NC. By 1850 their family had moved to Benton County, AL (later known as Calhoun County).
