Harry Everett McCowen, 59, former Waterloo resident, died Friday at 7:15 p.m. of carcinoma in a Grand Rapids, Minn., hospital.
Mr. McCowen was born June 21, 1892, at Cedar Falls, a son of George and Alice McCowen, and was married to Anne Iblings at Cedar Falls on June 16, 1914. Soon after they came to Waterloo where Mr. McCowen was in the automobile business from 1925 to 1932.
Beloit, Wis., was the home of the McCowens for the next few years. They then returned to Waterloo where he was associated with the Mid-Continent Petroleum Corp. before retiring due to ill health in 1948, Mr. McCowen operated Ball Club lodge in Minnesota. After giving up his business, he moved to Deer River, Minn.
Mr. McCowen was a member of the Waterloo Baptist church, the A.F.&A.M. lodge No. 105, and was formerly a member of Kiwanis club.
Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Robert M., of Galesburg, Ill., and Vincent, student at Iowa State Teachers college, Cedar Falls, and two grandchildren. His parents and two sisters preceded him in death...
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p. m. in the First Baptist church with Rev. H. B. Bjornson, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in memorial Park cemetery...
