Mrs. Harry E. McCowan, 66, of 935 W. 3rd St., died at 3:35 a. m. Monday at Allen Memorial hospital of complications of asthma.
She was born Anne J. Iblings, May 18, 1891, in Aplington, Ia., the daughter of John and Dora Iblings.
She moved to Cedar Falls in 1908 with her parents, and attended Iowa State Teachers College from 1912 to 1914. On June 16, 1914, she was married to Harry E. McCowan in Cedar Falls.
The couple moved to Waterloo, and lived here until 1925. They then moved to Beloit, Wis., returning to Waterloo in 1932. In 1939 they moved to Deer River, Minn.; after Mr. McCowan's death in 1951, Mrs. McCowan returned to Waterloo.
for the past five years she was employed in the treasurer's office at the Black Hawk county courthouse. She was a member of the First Baptist church of Waterloo.
Survivors include: two sons, Vincent, 1906 Hawthorne Ave., and Robert, Ames; three sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Brown, Cedar Falls; Mrs. Glenn Saul, Waverly, and Miss Ebelene iblings, Seattle, Wash.; two brothers, Harry, North Hollywood, Calif., and William, Cincinnati, and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church, the Rev. H. B. Bjornson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery
