Ruth M. Gornto, 87, of Grandin, died Monday, Feb. 27, 2006, at Palatka Health Care Center following a brief illness.
She was a native of Thatcher, Ariz., and had been a resident of Putnam County since the 1920s, first living in Keuka, Florahome and later in Grandin. She was a 1935 graduate of Melrose High School. She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and traveling. She was a member of Florahome United Methodist Church. She loved her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman H. Gornto; one sister, Hazel Miller; and one brother, Austin Miller.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathryn (Wilbur) Cumbus of Florahome and Vicki (David) Lazarchik of Augusta, Ga.; one son and daughter-in-law, Gary (Yolanda) Gornto of Kissimmee; one brother and sister-in-law, Clifford G. (Mary) Miller of Florahome; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday, March 2 at Paran Cemetery in Grandin, with Rev. Diane Reeves and Rev. Mary Hill officiating.
