Helen E. Young, age 64, of Chesterton, Ind., passed away Friday, June 14, 2013.
She was born January 20, 1949 in Valparaiso, Ind., to Donald H. and Loneata S. (Edmonds) Evans.
She is survived by her loving daughter and best friend, Sherry Ann Starnes of Chesterton, Ind.; life companion, Terry Crawford of Chesterton, Ind.; grandsons, Sonny and River Starnes; brothers, John A. (Laurie) Evans of Chesterton, Ind. and Thomas O. (Angie) Evans of Chesterton, Ind.; sisters, Doneata S. Cohn, of Loveland, Colo. and Mary Ann (Donald) Stueber of Chesterton, Ind.; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, many great friends and her granddog Bear.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Young; brother, Carl D. Evans; and nephew, Brian D. Bailey.
Helen was a member and former President of the Women's Auxiliary V.F.W. Porter Post 2571. She was also a member of the Women's Auxiliary Chesterton American Legion Post 170. Helen will be deeply missed by all her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 12:00 noon at Edmonds and Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, Ind., 46304.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2013, from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with a VFW service at 6:00 p.m.
