KILGORE -- Graveside services for Cecil Barnett Hart, 93, of Kilgore, will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 4, 2006, in the Kilgore Cemetery, with the Reverend Dr. William J. Ingersoll officiating. Mrs. Hart passed away Saturday, September 30, 2006, in Kilgore. Cecil Barnett Hart was born September 18, 1913, in Kilgore, to Rice Woods and Lilla Beall Barnett. She attended school in Kilgore and finished her education at the College of Industrial Arts (CIA) in Denton. She married Morris Hart of Gilmer in 1935. Morris worked for Houston Oilfield Material Company (Homco), and they moved to Talco, then lived in Hobbs, New Mexico, New Iberia, Louisiana, Tulsa, Oklahoma, then to the Dallas/Fort Worth area before his retirement. They moved back to Kilgore in 1965. Morris passed away in 1966. Cecil was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kilgore from an early age. She was a lifetime member of Presbyterian Women, and a longtime member of Circle No. 2. Cecil especially enjoyed church activities, game shows, and crossword puzzles. Cecil and her family were descendants of some of the founders of Gum Spring Presbyterian Church, which later became First Presbyterian Church of Kilgore. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Morris; sisters, Evelyn Barnett and Martha Lopera; and brother, John Cabell Barnett. Surviving Cecil are her sister, Claire Laird of Kilgore; niece, Betty Lyon and her husband, Kent of Dallas; great-niece, Stefanie Lyon of Dallas; brother-in-law, Steve Lopera of Kilgore; and several cousins including, Jean Hollingsworth of Kilgore. The family would like to thank the Kilgore Manor staff and nurses for all their kindness shown in providing care for Cecil these past two months. Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Kilgore, P.O. Box 1216, Kilgore, TX 75663. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday evening, October 3, 2006, at the funeral home in Kilgore.
