Mr. Brown's Great Grandfather was the Postmaster at Old Rag, Virginia, until the National Park came into existence. W. Brown was the last postmaster at Old Rag (the oldest mountain on the ridge, which is now federally owned park land.) Jimmy continued the tradition by being a mail carrier in Madison County.
He belonged to The Children of Shenandoah, a group that is comprised of individuals (and descendants of those) who were evicted from their lands to create a National Park in the western tradition. Mr. Brown is a relative of mine via his father's line.
He is descended from a Revolutionary Veteran of the Third Virginia Continental Line.
He is a descendant of residents of Free Man's Hollow.
