Anthony “Tony” Adame, 79, of Pueblo passed April 6, 2016.
Born Oct. 25, 1936, in Lamar, Colo. Survived by Bertha Adame; daughter, Bertha (Craig) Johnson; six sons, Anthony Adame Jr., Daniel Adame, Adam Adame, Darren Adame, Aaron (Sherri) Adame, Anton (Rebecca) Adame; grandchildren, Jessica, Darian, Jeremi, Darren Jr. (Alora), Sarina (Te’rell), Manuel (Kristina), Allen, Aaron, Austin, Alyssa, Brenda (Jacob), Kalista, Mar-iah, Ophelia; and 11 great-grandchildren; siblings; Dolores Le-doucer, Lupe Adame, Ronald Adame and Steve Adame. Preceded in death by parents, Josephine and Manuel Adame; brothers, Benny and Richard. Rosary, 9:30 a.m. today April 9, followed by funeral Mass at 10 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Las Animas, Colo. Arrangements by Johnson-Romero Funeral of La Junta. Anthony “Tony” Adame of Pueblo and former life-long resident of Las Animas, CO entered into rest April 6, 2016 peacefully in his home surrounded by his family. He was born October 25, 1936 in Lamar, CO to Josephine and Manuel Adame. He was 79 Years of age.
Tony is survived by his loving wife Bertha Adame of 56 years, daughter, Bertha (Craig) Johnson, 6 sons; Anthony Adame Jr. of Pueblo CO, Daniel Adame of Pueblo, CO, Adam Adame, of Colorado Springs, Darren Adame of Pueblo, CO, Aaron (Sherri) Adame of Swink, CO, Anton (Rebecca) Adame of Pueblo, CO, grandchildren, Jessica, Darian, Jeremi, Darren Jr. (Alora), Sarina (Te’rell ), Manuel (Kristina), Allen, Aaron, Austin, Alyssa, Brenda (Jacob), Kalista, Mariah, Ophelia and 11 great grandchildren. Sister, Dolores Ledoucer and brother’s Lupe Adame, Ronald Adame and Steve Adame.
He is preceded in death by his parents Josephine and Manuel Adame, 2 brothers Benny and Richard Adame.
Tony served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a POW. He later worked many different jobs and retired from the Fort Lyon VA Hospital.
Tony had a great sense of humor. He was a generous man and a good provider. He was always there for his family when they needed him. He taught his children many life lessons. He was a hard worker and instilled this trait in all of them. He was good with his hands. Tony was a jewelry maker. He enjoyed wood working, gardening, growing hot peppers and many different species of fruit trees. He did construction his who life and repurposed any material he could find. He also made sure his children learned from him the value of taking something old and making it new again.
A Rosary will be held at 9:30 A.M. Saturday, April 9, 2016 followed by a 10:00 A.M. Funeral Mass in Las Animas, Co at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Father Matthew Wertin will be officiating.
A committal service will be held at the Las Animas Cemetery with Military Honors.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the loving care of the Johnson-Romero Funeral Home of La Junta.
