Born To: Cornelius Van Duren, and Anna Tuinstra Van Duren, both of Holland [aka the Netherlands].
He was seventh born of ten children, with (including himself) five brothers and five sisters.

Preceded in death by his wife of 49 years: Mary Lou Morehouse Van Duren.
Survived by three daughters:
Joan C., Laura B., Debra K.
and two sons: Craig, and Mark.
Mr. Van Duren also had five grandchildren.

CWO Van Duren was a decorated war veteran who served 30 years in the U.S. Army in WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam War.

Medals and Awards:
Combat Infantry Badge,
Bronze Star Medal w/ Valor Device,
Korean Service Medal,
Korean Presidential Unit Citation,
U.N. Service Medal,
National Defense Service Medal,
Commendation Ribbon w/ Metal Pendant, and the Army Commendation Medal.

Honorably discharged on October 31, 1965, he moved to Long Beach area and later to Long Beach, California, where he resided until his death on November 29, 2013.
He was age 98.

Mr. Van Duren accepted the Lord in the presence of his daughter Debra on his birthday Oct 16, 2913.

According to his daughter Debbie Jean:
"Dad was one of the best father's I have ever known or heard of. He was always generous, kind, and understanding. I don't ever remember him raising his voice to me in my whole life. I enjoyed every minute I could with him and he loved to spend time with his children as much as possible when we were small and as adults. He was not perfect, but thank GOD he didn't need to be; that's why Jesus came and sacrificed Himself. I will love and honor him forever."
