This Irish participant in the Battle of Waterloo had a daughter who had married a German prince in Florence in 1834: Prince Henry LXLIV of Reuss-Schleiz-Joestritz married Matilda Henrietta Elizabeth born 12 May 1804, daughter of Lieutenant General John Locke and granddaughter of William, Viscount Courtenay, of Devon. It is likely she who raises this large monument with its shamrocks and armorial bearings, its 'Pelican in its Piety'.
