On February 10, 2016 our beloved Carmen went home to meet our creator surrounded by her family.

Born August 11, 1944 in Toppenish, she and her family migrated from Eagle Pass, Texas where they worked and returned back to Wapato where they settled. She attended Wapato schools and graduated 1963. When she finished high school, she moved to Seattle and finished nursing school. She returned to Wapato and met the love of her life in 1974, married in 1977 and spent the last 42 glorious years together. Residing in Wapato, they raised three children. She was active in her church as a Catechist. She made her career in the nursing field as a LPN at Yakima Convalescent, Wapato Nursing home, and Yakima Farm Workers Clinic where she retired in 2000. In her retirement she enjoyed crocheting, needle point, and various knitting projects. She also enjoyed trips to Walmart, Dollar Store, and second hand stores. She loved family trips in the summer to the Oregon coast where she would spend hours with her feet in the sand enjoying the view watching her children and nephew play. She will be missed.

She is survived by her husband Ismael Mancilla Sr.; daughter, Victoria (Rodrigo) Lopez and son, Ismael (Veronica) Mancilla; and 6 grandchildren, David and Thomas Lopez; Niahmyah, Alexyeia, Nataliah, and Ismael III Mancilla. She is preceded by her eldest son Gabriel Mancilla; and her father Francisco and mother Guillermina.

There will be a visitation on Monday, February 15, 2016 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Rosary staring at 6:00 pm at Merritt Funeral Home in Wapato. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church in Wapato with burial to follow at Reservation Community Memorial Park.
