Obituary - Mrs. Elizabeth M. Rockwell, 79, of 41 Swezey Street, Patchogue, died Saturday at her home after an extended illness.
Born in Ireland, Mrs. Rockwell came to Patchogue 55 years ago. She and her husband, Jacob Rockwell, celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary in 1946. Mrs. Rockwell was a Gold Star mother. Her son, John M. Rockwell, was killed in World War II.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Rockwell is survived by two daughters, Miss Jane Rockwell of Monticello, and Mrs. Frank Carr, of New York City; two sons, Robert of Patchogue, and George of Riverhead; three sisters, Mrs. Jack Jordan of Brooklyn, Mrs. Katherine King of East Rockway, and Mrs. John Downs of Scotland; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A rosary service was held at 8 p.m. at the Pettit Funeral Home, and a requiem mass was said yesterday at 10 a.m. yesterday at St. Francis de Sales' R.C. Church, by the Rev. John J. Gorman. Interment followed in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery at Coram.
