Lewis Bledsaw

Lewis Bledsaw, 83, a former resident of Decatur, died at 5 a.m. Monday in his home in Witt after an illness of several years.

Mr. Bledsaw was born on Feb. 12, 1863[sic], in Bedford, Ind., the son of Martin and Sarah Jane Owens Bledsaw.  He moved from Decatur to Witt in 1946.

He married Margaret Sapp on Jan. 9, 1922, in Springfield.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Lillian) White of Lamoille, Ill., and Evelyn Schott of Witt; two brothers, W. M. and Thomas, both of Decatur; three half-brothers, Arthur Cotton of Nokomis, Frank Cotton of Arizona and Homer Cotton of Texas; and nine grandchildren.  One son preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the J. J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Mount Gilead Cemetery.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
