Murry Braun, 92, of Clinton Circle, died Sunday, June 15, 2014, at his residence following a long illness. Born December 21, 1921 in Albany, he was the son of Harry S. and Lillian (Joseph) Braun. Murry graduated from Peekskill Military Academy and enlisted in the U.S. Army. He fought in the campaigns of Ardennes, Central Europe, and Rhineland and received an honorable discharge in 1945. Murry married Marjorie Leopold of Philadelphia in 1943 and had two children, Michael and Wendy. The family lived in Albany and belonged to Temple Beth Emeth. They spent a great deal of time boating aboard MY WAY on Lake George. Marjorie died in 1978 and Murry married Eleanor MacNiven in 1985. In 1994, they moved to a log cabin on Patrick Road in Cobleskill and relocated to Clinton Circle in 2007. Survivors include his wife, Eleanor MacNiven of Cobleskill; son, Michael (Leslie) Braun of Palo Alto, CA; daughter, Wendy Braun of Glenmont; sister, Joan (Marvin) Rosenstein of Sarasota, FL; granddaughters, Amy Braun (Jay) Reitz of Seattle, WA, Michelle Braun (Aaron) Nayfack of San Carlos, CA; step-daughters, Barbara Neary of Schenectady and her daughter, Molly (Cameron) Tovey, Charmian (Gerard) Gardiner of Rye, and their son, Russell Gardiner, Rebecca Neary of San Diego, CA, and Sally Neary of Kent, WA; step-sons, Richard Neary of Speculator, John (Nancy) Neary of Walpole, MA and their children, Joshua (Nicole) Neary, John (Stephanie) Neary, Jr., and Amy Neary; and seven great-grandchildren. Murry has requested cremation, which has taken place at Vale Crematory, Schenectady. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill. Kaddish will be said for Murry at 5 p.m. on Friday, June 20, 2014 at Temple Beth Emeth, 100 Academy Rd., Albany, NY 12208. A celebration of Murry's life will be planned during the week of August 5, 2014 at a location to be determined.
