Family was Anglo-Irish. May lived in Canterbury and later Brighton during her youth. The home where she lived in Brighton was still standing in the early 1980s. Attended a convent school and worked briefly in an office before joining the RAF. Served in RAF Women's Corps in WWII. Stationed at Tangmere Aerodrome and Bishop Otter College (near Chichester), where she participated in managing the air cover for D-Day. Family lore has it that she and Armond met at a New Year's dance held at the town hall in Chichester. The family believes they were married in London (6/17/1941). There is a wedding photo of the two of them with the name and address of a photographer in Piccadilly, London, on the back. Came to the US on a "war brides' ship." Lived most of the rest of her life in the Philadelphia area. Mother of Michael, Edward, Christopher and Annette. After Armond died, she pent the last years of her life at a retirement community in Redwood City CA. May was an outstanding knitter, producing wonderful sweaters.

Her grandfather's family name was Haysom and he was a partner in a company that produced uniforms for the British armed forces and also for ships' crews. (Miller, Rayner & Haysom made the uniforms worn by the officers of the Titanic.) He was originally from Belfast. He was knighted for his services to the crown. The family has a photo of a large country home he built in England, called "The Welkin." This is no longer standing. May had a sister (name unknown) who was mentally handicapped. The sister lived to adulthood in England. The family only found out about her when May received notice of her death in an auto accident.

BIANCHI MAY At rest May 31, 2002 in Redwood City, California. Ten year resident of the local area having relocated from Upper Darby Pa. Native of Southend-on-sea, England.
