Jessie Howard was the dauhter of John Lafette Howard and Zetta Butterfield Howard. She met and married Sam Duffield in 1896. She had 3 children, Howard, Forrest, and Grace who was adopted. Jessie and Sam moved to the Fertile Prarie area near Baker to homestead in 1910. They had a small farm and Jessie sold Watkins products from her home. She had a hand operated rug weaving loom on which she made literaly miles of rugs for many friends and neighbors. After her husband died in 1937, she lived with her son Forrest until her death in 1964.
