Michael J. Spickler, 53, died in his home Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010. Born July 31, 1957, the son of Bruce and Carole (Wurtz) Spickler. Married Linda Rakuc on June 25, 1983, in Rockford.

He worked at Wickes Lumber, Stock Lumber, United Building Center, and most recently as a contractor sales rep for Kitzmans Lumber. Member of Christ the Savior Orthodox Church. Mike graduated from East High School in 1975 and was a proud member of the E-Rabs 1974 State Championship Football team as an outside linebacker and defensive end.

Active member of the East High Booster Club and backer of East High athletics, particularly football, baseball, volleyball, and dance team in support of his children and their friends. Mike was an avid Bears fan and also enjoyed fishing and boating at Castle Rock Lake, Wis.

Survivors include wife, Linda; children, Stephanie and Alec; parents, Bruce and Carole; father-in-law and mother-, Walter and Lidia Rakuc; sisters, Barbara Kosinski and Karen Spickler; brothers-in-law, Jim (Corinne) Rakuc and their children, James and Ashley, and Tom (Lynn) Rakuc, and their children, Ciara and Chelsea; other relatives including, Ron (Vera) Fox, Jeff Fox and Kristin (Tony) Hammes and their son, Jonah; and many good friends. Predeceased by grandparents, John and Elizabeth Wurtz.
