James Melvin Aasheim, a son of Joseph and Mabel (Ihla) Aasheim, was born on March 31, 1937 at Bottineau. He lived with family in several places and attended school in Carbury, Bottineau, Dunseith and Bantry. In the 1950,s Jim Began working as a contract laborer at the Minot Air Force Base, He later worked at the missile site at Michigan, ND. He then worked at the Antelope Valley Gasification Plant and Beulah until his retirement. On July 24, 1982, he married Elaine (Monson) Stadheim at the First Lutheran Church in Bottineau.
Jim was awarded for 50 years of membership in the Laborers International Union of North America.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine of Bottineau, sons, Kevin (Ruth) Stadheim of Elizabethville, PA and Brad (Valerie) Stadheim of Minot; 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren sisters, Jean Zorn and Dorothy (Charles) Smith; brothers, LeRoy Aasheim, Billy (Terry) Aasheim and Clayton (Connie) Aasheim and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Lester, Glen and Wally and 1 sister, Arlene Highness.
