Son of Hugh McClure (1725 - 1782) and Eleanor (McClure) McClure (1725 - 1799). Father of: Mrs. Elizabeth McClure Gibson (1787 - 1877), Mrs. Jane McClure Irwin (1788 - 1862), Samuel McClure (1788 - 1834), Robert McClure (1794 - aft 1842), Mary Margaret "Peggy" McClure Gibson (1795 - 1826), George McClure (1796 – 1863), Hugh McClure (1796 - 1876), Mrs. Nancy McClure Level (1798 – 1828 ), Isaac McClure (1800 - 1887), Eleanor McClure (1804 - 1891), and Rachel H. McClure (1805 - 1871).
David McClure was one of the two Elders of the original Lebanon Seceder Church to which the deeded some land for the church.
