Letha Long, 79, Atherton, died April 28, 2004, at her home.
Mrs. Long was born June 12, 1924, in Sibley, to Wesley and Minnie (Waugh) Griffith.
She was a custodian for the Fort Osage School District, retiring after 16 years of service. She then was a custodian for the Independence School District for 20 years. Her last employment was a dishwasher for Sandy's Restaurant in Independence. She was a member of Atherton United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, James Luther Long Sr.*, and a son, Jamie Luther Long Jr.*, both in 1986.
Her survivors include two daughters, Martha Frasher, Belton, and Linda Gass, Buckner; two sons, Bob McCormick and Brandon Long, both of Atherton; a sister, Virginia Pearce, Odessa; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Saturday at New Salem Funeral Home, Independence. Burial will be in Salem Association Cemetery, Independence.
