Ellen Cobb Jones was the daughter of William J. Cobb and Mary Anne Amanda Coxwell. She married James Columbus Jones October 29, 1885 in Livingston, Polk, Texas. He was the son of John W. Jones and Louiza Meadows. She was the mother of Dorcus, Maud, Ode, Ruby, and Mae Louise. Ellen was a small woman in stature. Whenever James would buy her fabric for a dress, he had to buy ten yards. The women of this time wore floor length dress with very full skirts. Ellen and James are buried in the Abbott Cemetery, west of Corrigan, Polk County, Texas on Howell Road.
