Leon "Rocky" Lane was the son of Everett and Leona (Harlow) Lane. He was born 17 August 1934 in Buckhannon, Upshur Co., WV. He was survived by his wife, Deborah (Flanaghan) Lane, one son, one daughter, two grandsons, two grandaughters, one brother, one sister, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Joseph Lane. He was formerly married to Mary Flint of Molesworth, England, and Dorthy (Snow) Lane, of Buckhannon.

He was a veteran having served in the Korean War, and in Germany. He also served in Skywolf, a special army attachment to the Air Force. He was a retired union carpenter, personal contractor, a sign maker and farmer. Genealogy was his passion, and he photographed cemeteries for posterity across many states.
