Fern M. English (nee Labin), 95, of Farmingdale, N.J. and formerly of Vineland passed away on Saturday evening at home after being under the care of family and hospice. Fern was born and raised in Brownsville, Pa., and was a longtime Vineland city resident. She was the daughter of the late Grace (Hopton) and Robert Labin. She was also predeceased by her son, James Westcoat; her daughter Connie Vastano and granddaughter, Lori. When first moving to Vineland Fern began working at Leggitt's. She then became employed as an executive secretary at Manischewitz Food Co. in Vineland. In her later years she assisted Miles Lerman. Fern was a professional organist and pianist and had served the First Methodist Church of Bridgeton as their organist as well as many other area churches. She was an avid reader and loved music. She is survived by her son Paul H. Johnson and his daughter, Lauren, with whom she resided in Farmingdale; stepson, Spike English and wife, Berni, Vineland, N.J.; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and her special caregiver, Elizabeth Johnson. Relatives and friends will be received on Wednesday Jan. 11, 2012 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 with her funeral service to follow at 12:30 p.m. at the PANCOAST FUNERAL HOME, 676 S. Main Road, Vineland, N.J.
