Passed Peacefully Away
Mrs. George Lardie, One of This County's Oldest and Most Respected Pioneers Died Last Night.
Mrs. George Lardie, on of the earliest pioneers of the region, died last night at her home at Old Mission, aded sixty-nine years and siz months. She had been ill for a long time, and at the last passed peacefully away while sleeping. Her maiden name was Harriet Coutu, and she was born in Berthier, Canada. She married George Lardie over fifty years ago, and they had the pleasure of celebrating their golden wedding at their home at Old Mission a year or so ago. Mr. and Mrs. Lardie cam here in 1859, settling on a farm near Old Mission and about 22 years ago ther removed to Old Mission, where thier home has been ever since, Mr. Lardie, conducting a genearl store there. Besides her huaband Mrs. Lardie leave five sons, George W, and Fred L. of this city, Peter F., postmaster at Mapleton, Henry, postmater at Old Mission and Stephen, who is attending the University, and three daughters Mrs. Hattie Swaney of Old Mission, Mrs. Matilda Hoffman of Mapleton, and Miss Rose, who is at home. Funeral services will be held at the Catholic church at Mapleton Friday morning at 10 o'clock.
