Sadie was a foodie and should you fail to share what you had, she would high pitch bark at you or just attempt to breach your lips and take whatever you had right out of your mouth (in this regard she was shameless).
Sadie's favorite song was Changes by David Bowie and every time Bowie sang the chorus she would howl. Sadie was the only girl in condo complex and she fancied herself as the Grand Madame around the boys who all followed her every move.
So smart was Sadie. She would sit and watch while I attempted to teach Eddie a new trick. When Eddie failed, Sadie slowly sauntered up, performed the trick flawlessly and then walked away with a look on her face that seemed to suggest "it was all so easy".
Her favorite place in the world was at her Grandma and Grandpa's house. When we would get ready to leave she would approach the car, go potty, throw me a sly side glance and run as fast as she could to the barn where she would attempt to prolong her stay by hiding under the trailer.
Her name was Sadie but she was also known as Sadie Potaty, Sadikins, Dinkerdos, Sadie Lady, Sadie Lou who, Girlfriend and The Tank. She was my friend for 14 years and I loved her so very much.
Today Sadie went to Heaven and we laid her to rest at Grandma and Grandpa's barn right next to Eddie.
As we left to come home we sat silent in the car with the rain pouring down. The song on the radio faded out and the next one started. It was Changes by David Bowie.
