Death of a Sister.

Mell LEGLER was called to Monroe, Wisconsin Monday upon the death of his sister, Mrs. Anna ELMER.

She was twice a widow. Some 35 or 40 years ago she lived in this vicinity near Halfmound. Her first husband, Yohna [Joachim] MARTY, was operating a cheese factory there. One evening he was killed by lightning on the top of the Mound where he was riding his pony after his cows. The pony was also killed. His body was found late in the night by a searching party. He lays buried in Rose Hill cemetery.

Mrs. MARTY returned to the parental home in Wisconsin with her two little boys, one of them, Fred, afterward lived here for awhile and clerked in his uncle Mell's store. Mrs. MARTY re-married and lived on the old family home for many years. Mr. ELMER died about four years ago.

At the time of her death she was living in the nice home in Monroe, her sons being in charge of the farm where her parents died. She was about 60 years of age. She was here on a sad visit about three years ago to attend the funeral of her brother, Henry LEGLER, who died from injuries in a runaway.
