Nicholas Costas Bentas was born 11 May 1922 in Manchester, New Hampshire, his father, Costas, was 34 and his mother, Edith B (Zekia), was 25. He had one younger sister Dolphie (Dolly) born on July 20, 1924.

Nicolas Bentas was enlisted into military service 2 January 1943 then transferred into Army Air Forces service.

Marauder B-26G-11-MA-43-34605 441st BS, 320th BG, 12th AF) crashed 8 mi SE of Besancan, France Jan 19, 1945 due to engine failure. All six crewman killed. Aircraft was destroyed.
