In his later years he focused on the Spanish Civil War and World War II as subjects. He was included in the Arts Council of Britian exhibition in 1951. In 1963, he declined election as associate of the Royal Academy of Arts. Burra was awarded the C.B.E in 1971.

Gravesite Details
The reverse of the stone is worn but bears the name of Burra's sister, Elizabeth Mary, d.1929.
