Heinrich was born in Bavaria, Germany. He came to Cincinnati, Ohio, about 1840, as a young man. He was a landlord, city Gardner, owner of a large city garden, at the site of Crosley Field in Cincinnati, former home of the Cincinnati Reds. Henry was a well known figure in the German West End community. He and his wife sold their produce and eggs at Cincinnati's former Fifth Street Market. He married Margaretha Bauer on 28 Aug 1848 at the Old St. Joseph Church. Margaretha died in 1859. He and Margaretha had four children.
Henry then married Anna Marie Fratt, they had four additional children. He was a member of Saint Augustins Roman Catholic Church.
