R.C. 'Chef Mears

BAYOU VISTA - Mr. R. C. 'Chef Mears passed from this life Tuesday evening, January 14, 2003, in Webster. Born January 7, 1926, in Port Arthur, Mr. Mears had been a resident of Hitchcock since 1981, previously of Houston. He had been employed at RCA for over 40 years as a electronics engineer, served in the US Navy during WWII, was a member of the V.F.W. and enjoyed electronics and music.

Survivors include his wife of over 52 years, Verna Mears, of Hitchcock; son, Ronald Chester Mears, of Los Crucea, New Mexico; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Steve Bradley, of San Francisco, California; brother, Holmes Mears, of the Phillipines; sisters, Virginia Perry of Houston and Bess Pretty of Alvin; grandchildren, Tracy Tull, of Dallas, Daniel Humphrey, of San Francisco, California, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, January 18, 2003, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Mr. Jim Bates officiating.

Those who wish may make memorials in the form of donations to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Houston Chapter, 6161 Savoy, Suite 240, Houston, TX 77036 or
Heartland Hospice, 4721 Garth Road, Suite E, Baytown, Texas 77521.
