Greta was the best dog ever. It was sort of the family joke that she was my consolation prize for winding up with a baby brother instead of the sister I had wanted. Greta was right there waiting for me when I came home from school. I've had epilepsy since I was born and when I was 12 I started having a seizure in the pool Greta knew something was wrong and started barking and barking to get my attention, if it hadn't been for the fence around the pool and her being on the other side I know she would have jumped in and dragged me out.Even when she got older she was a great watch dog, when my daughter was born she would hover around her when she was on the bed or anywhere she might hurt herself because even though by that time she was old and blind and couldn't see her, she could sense her presence and wasn't gonna let her get hurt. The day I finally had to take her in was the saddest day of my life, but I knew she was suffering and I was afraid she would die alone and I didn't want that. I followed her all over the vet hospital everywhere they would let me and finally kissed her and hugged her as she fell asleep for the last time. I know she was at peace and knew we were doing the right thing, but it's so hard to lose someone you love so dearly.
