At the age of 14, Mary realized the need for spiritual and divine guidance. She accepted Jesus Christ as her lord and Savior and joined the Church Hill Baptist Church. Mary loved her church and was a faithful servant. She served as former Vice President of the Senior and Mass Choir and President of the Kitchen Committee; she was also a member of the Willing Workers.
Mary was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Mr. Prentice Cruite and this union was blessed with seven (7) children; her husband and two (2) children preceded her in death.
Mary leaves to cherish her loving memory, two (2) sons: Rev. George (Lolita) Cruite, Lonnie R. (Carolyn) Cruite, both of Hopkinsville, KY; three (3) daughters: Teresa (David) Bussell, Linda D. Cruite, Melissa D. McGee, all of Hopkinsville, KY; five (5) brothers: Hugh Bennie Turnley of Indianapolis, IN, George W. Turnley, Larry Turnley, Charles, and Robert Michael Turnley, all of Hopkinsville, KY; three (3) sisters: Mattie Slappy, Macie Henry of Hopkinsville, KY, and Connie McGee of Cadiz, KY. Mary also leaves behind fifteen (15) grandchildren; eleven (11) great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends; two (2) special friends: Mr. and Mrs. Gordon and Mary Greenwade.
Arrangements were handled by Gamble Funeral Home in Hopkinsville, KY.
Services held at Gamble Funeral Home Chapel in Hopkinsville, KY, on Thursday, December 29, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor James Dunbar officiating.
Internment was at Church Hill (Pee Dee) Baptist Church Cemetery in Hopkinsville, KY.
